Child and adolescent psychodynamic psychotherapy is a specialist, evidence-informed therapy that supports children and young people with their emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and relationships.
It is based on the understanding that children often communicate distress through behaviour rather than words. Therapy provides a consistent, safe space where feelings can be expressed and understood through talking, play, and creative work, depending on the child’s age and needs.
The focus is on helping the child make sense of their internal world, including emotions, experiences, and relationships. Over time, this can support improved emotional regulation, reduced distress, and a stronger sense of self.
This approach is particularly helpful where there are underlying emotional or relational factors, even when these are not immediately visible.
